I had the privilege of screening the film One Day on Earth at the United Nations General Assembly last night with my good friends at Record Setter. I was there to film while Team Record Setter officiated a new record for “Largest Global Film Premiere”. This film was screened at the same time in more than 160 countries around the world.

One Day on Earth was compiled from footage shoot on 10/10/10. With more than 3000 hours of footage, they created some great storylines touching on every facet of the human experience; birth and death, love and sorrow, the natural world around us.

It was fantastic. It’s one that everyone should see to really appreciate that we are not just citizens of countries, but we are all citizens of the world. There’s much more that unites us than divides us. Check out the film’s site to find out about the next film compiled from footage shot on 11/11/11. I look forward to it.

(I was blown away from actually sitting in the UN General Assembly. It’s a place that’s almost frozen in time, the 60s. Check out this panorama I captured just before the screening.)

Very cool style and animation.

April is a busy month! While I can’t make all the events I want to, I’m excited to be participating in two huge ones later this month.

The first is the Find & Follow Your Passion Conference on April 21st, hosted at SVA by the amazing meet up group, NY Creative Interns. This is going to be an awesome event. I’ll be running a livestream feed of several of the panels. More details to come as the event gets closer.

The other event is World’s Largest Rainbow Parade! A RecordSetter Attempt w/ Jessi Arrington, part of RecordSetter’s World Record Day on April 28th. This is sure to be an interesting mix of crazy and colorful people marching from DUMBO, Brooklyn to Manhattan by way of the Brooklyn Bridge. Will be an incredible sight.

One event that I’ll be missing :( - the 2012 UCF Visual Language Gala/Premiere. While I visited UCF’s Center for Emerging Media on Monday, I got a chance to see the two new films, Box Forts and Flower Story. Whoa, these films are really good! While I can’t be there on the actual day, I’ll be ordering the DVD for sure. Great job to the senior class!

Clever After Effects work.

Rise of the Guardians - Official Trailer

This is looking pretty awesome! I feel like Dreamworks is finally on a streak of solid, timeless films to go up against most of Pixar’s catalog.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

This looks awesome, I hope the movie lives up to the trailer.

ParaNorman - Theatrical Trailer

I’m excited to see another stop-motion film from Laika. Hope it’s good!

After their win for “Best Animated Short” at the Oscars, Moonbot Studios was celebrated with a parade in downtown Shreveport, LA today. For photos from the parade, check out the post below.

“The Story of Animation” by David Tart

Went to see “The Lorax” today. Overall it was good, not great, but good. There were some odd voice choices for some characters and some slightly off animation, but it satisfied the kids in the audience who were really getting into it…so I guess that’s the important bit. It’s worth seeing, but like most other films in stereoscopic 3D, don’t waste your money.
